Home Share Program
The Home Share Program offers adults with an intellectual disability the opportunity to experience "real" family life. We recruit (screen & train) home share providers (families and/or single people, with or without children) who would like to share their home & life with a person who has an intellectual disability. The home share provider and the person are carefully matched by taking into consideration interests, lifestyle and goals. Our home share program has been in existence since 2000 and continues to grow. We currently have 8 families in Glengarry County who provide a wonderful home environment to 11 people with intellectual disabilities.
The Benefits of This Program for Home Share Providers are:
- Payment of a daily per diem for supporting the person within their home
- Free annual training, Example: Non-Violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI), C.P.R, fire safety etc.
- Regular monthly visits and on-going follow-up from the full time support worker.
- Enriched life experience. One of our family home providers has said " Sharing our lives and our home has been one of the greatest experiences of our lives; the gratitude and love you receive are more than one could imagine."
Thanks to all our dedicated families for providing a wonderful loving home environment for the people we support, truly enriching their lives. Community Living Glengarry is in admiration of all of you!
