ALERT on COVID-19 and actions being taken by Community Living Glengarry. English and French documents are shown below.

English Version
Community Living Glengarry has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and taking the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus and keep the people we support and employees safe and healthy during this uncertain time. We will continue to follow developments through the health unit and other public health authorities. Community Living Glengarry’s board of directors and some members of the management team met today to discuss our plan related to the COVID-19. There have been many emails circulating regarding closures; locally, in the region, through the province etc. There are still no confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus in our community, however, as a precautionary measure, It was decided that the Community Network Centre (Don Johnston Building) and the Passport Program will not be offering services to people we support until April 5, 2020. The status of the program closures will be re-evaluated on April 5, 2020.
Community Network Centre (332 MacDonald Blvd) & Passports
Services will be closed to people supported. Employees working out of Day Supports are still expected to come in to work as usual, however, you will be re-directed to help out in Residential Services. Those with scheduled shifts in Passports will report to their manager for direction. The management and administration team will still be working from the building.
Residential Programs
Many places in the community have already closed down. For example: no church services are being offered, outreach, Carefor have suspended their programs, the dome and arena are closed, to name a few. We are limiting community interaction by not taking the people we support to crowded places, such as: grocery stores, pharmacies, theatres, restaurants etc. We are encouraging our individuals to still go out to do some things where there are not big crowds, such as: out for walks, trails, parks, corner store, go for drives etc.
Family visits in Residential Services – Active screening is required for visitors. We are asking our support staff to begin the active screening of all visitors. You will be provided with a form with a few questions to ask and have the family sign off on it.
Disinfection
As precautionary measures daily disinfecting is being performed at all work locations. Employees working out of the day support building are being asked to disinfect their work stations as well.
Travel
Our goal is to minimize potential risk to the people we support, employees and families and to operate with an abundance of caution. It is difficult to be crystal-clear when there is so much changing. However, it is important for you to know what our position is at this time.
Ø We discourage all non-essential travel outside of Canada for all employees. Travel may be disrupted and/or you may be required to be in quarantined in your destination or upon return to Canada, by the governing authorities for health/travel.
Ø Monday, March 16, 2020 – we will issue clear guidelines on the return to work process for employees who are returning from international trips.
This email is being sent to you on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Management Team. We apologize for the late notice and inconvenience this may be creating, however, we need to be proactive in minimizing risk to all stakeholders of the organization.
